Theatre Rag – Download

If you are doing a project on the theatre, or have a trip coming up, then this is a really good theatre song to use in the build up.

A real celebration of a night out at the theatre, the words are fantastic. It explores the different types of shows, from opera and shakespeare, to pantomime (the children will love the words for this part of the song. Sung in unison throughout, you can really concentrate on the tune and clarity of the words. Maybe a little work on dynamics with the older children.

Perfect for a ks2 music project on the theatre

If you are doing a project on the theatre, or have a trip coming up, then this is a really good theatre song to use in the build up. Perfect for ks2 music.

“We’ll be queueing at the door, in the rain and sleet, because it’s well worth missing Coronation Street.”

If you have enough children in your group, you could split them into ‘Shakespeare’ and ‘Pantomime’ groups to sing their own sections and even get them to bring in actions and performance.

If you are a ks2 music primary teacher without a music background, don’t worry. All song library music comes with simple teaching notes, backing tracks (so no need for a pianist) and performance tracks (for you to understand how the song should sound). The word sheets can be printed out and given to the children – however, we try to include powerpoint words wherever you can as this can help children to look up as they are singing. For more tips on teaching children to sing, please visit our blog article on ‘Teaching singing in junior school’ – a good starting guide to teaching singing for teachers that don’t!
