This Samuel Pepys first hand report of the Great Fire is vivid and evocative. This piece puts these words into song with drama and colour. It ends with “The cracking of houses at their ruin”. Commissioned by Neil Ferris and the Epworth Choir of Guilford for Soprano Solo, Baritone Solo, SATB and children’s chorus. Duration 18 minutes.
