£1.75

The races have been run, the competitions won, now all that is left is the Olympic Closing Ceremony – and to Go Out in Style!

The races have been run, the competitions won, now all that is left is the Olympic Closing Ceremony – and to Go Out in Style!

This is a song filled with grandeur and reflection, just like the closing ceremony of the games. The lyrics are about incredible sense of relief and the exhilaration of the end of the games. About the ultimate aim of the Olympics – to bring everyone together. ‘Going out in Style’ then runs into the anthemic song ‘Youth of the World’ to lift and finish on an incredible high.

This song is written for Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 with these purposes in mind.

  1. It should be enjoyable enough for the children to want to sing it.
  2. Improving words and diction (great for literacy throughout the curriculum).

Optional narration before the song:

Not all of us won medals But we lined up at the start. Brushing shoulders with the best of them And played a major part. We’re going out in style. With all our athletes on the track, Closing down these games in song. But, take heed, it won’t be long. “We’ll be back!”
