Raincloud Calypso – Download

This is a traditional Caribbean creation story about the fantasy ‘Land of Sky’, where people lived before they came down to earth. A beautiful Caribbean song in a Calypso style, it is a wonderful song for a school performance. Simple enough for even Key Stage 1 children to sing, it isn’t too young for Key Stage 2, making it the perfect song for a school wide Junior school concert. Many schools have chosen to sing this and act it out with costumes and dance to illustrate the story. Percussion will also add to the performance.

Sung in unison throughout, you can really concentrate on the tune and clarity of the words. Maybe a little work on dynamics with the older children. Percussion is also a really good addition to this performance.

If you are a primary teacher without a music background, don’t worry. All song library music comes with simple teaching notes, backing tracks (so no need for a pianist) and performance tracks (for you to understand how the song should sound). The word sheets can be printed out and given to the children – however, we try to include powerpoint words wherever you can as this can help children to look up as they are singing.
