Olympics Rowing Song – this fabulous two part song celebrates the ultimate team sport

Working together, in harmony and in timing, this Olympics Rowing Song plays on the teamwork needed when rowing in pairs. It is a simple, yet very effective song to learn. Normally we say that the parts should be learned separately, then brought together. However, its probably best to bring the parts together quite quickly in order to master the timing (listen to the performance track a few times and you’ll have it cracked in no time.

This song is written for Key Stages 2 and 3 with these purposes in mind.

1. It should be enjoyable enough for the children to want to sing it.
2. Improving words and diction (great for literacy throughout the curriculum).

The ultimate team sport is rowing.This is the one sport where nobody must stand out.We have to work together in total harmony.It’s a strange sport in another way.Have you ever thought?… rowers always move backwards!It’s the only sport that’s won by the team that moves fastest…backwards!And one other thing… in the case of the coxless crews,they can’t see where they’re going!They have to have complete trust in one another.They have to depend on each other.
